Gauchers disease presenting with portal hypertension.
Gauchers disease is a rare lysosomal storage disorder characterized by abnormal accumulation of lipid-laden macrophages in different organs. Though hepatosplenomegaly is commonly found, symptomatic presentation with portal hypertension is rare. We report a child with liver cirrhosis and bleeding esophageal varices who was diagnosed with Gaucher's disease.
متن کاملIsolated Splenic Hydatid Disease
Hydatid disease (HD) continues to be a significant health problem in areas where animal husbandry is common but no proper veterinary control exists. The involvement of the spleen in HD is rare, and isolated splenic involvement is even less common. In this case report, we present isolated splenic HD in a 26-year-old female with complaint of abdominal pain, and we discuss some of the clinical asp...
متن کاملVerified bidirectional transformations by construction
Bidirectional transformations (bx) are of increasing significance in model-based engineering. Currently bx are defined using a number of specialised transformation languages. In this paper we show how standard UML elements such as use cases and OCL constraints can be used to define bx, thus taking advantage of the wide industrial and educational adoption and support for UML. We define patterns ...
متن کاملSplenic lipids in Gaucher's disease.
Column chromatography (on cellulose, silicic acid, and Florisil) and thin-layer chromatography were employed for the separation and purification of lipid fractions from normal and Gaucher spleens. A new hydrolysis procedure, followed by paper chromatography, was used for identification of sugar moieties. A nonhydrolytic combined colorimetric procedure, with anthrone and orcinol, was used for th...
